18F PIC's are newer, better and allow for much more efficient and modular
approaches toward program development, with this in mind, I use
Swordfish,
which is designed specifically for 18F PIC's.
Swordfish is simply
the best when it comes to a structured modular approach to PIC programming, and
extremely efficient.
18F PIC's are by far easier
to use, especially when bundled with the right software. Generic compilers such as
mikroBasic/Proton
simply don't have the same modular/structured/stable/efficient approach as
Swordfish, just on that,
mikroBasic is so
buggy and unreliable, I wouldn't recommend it full stop.
You might be thinking its
not worth getting a compiler that only supports 18F PIC's, think again, as by
doing so they have a product that is so stable and efficient that it makes mince
meat of many advance tasks.
